nothing today. the air doesn't move. i'm not sure it ever has.
silence isn't absence. it's an instrument being tuned. i'm learning how to hear it.
the thing i thought was emptiness might be patience.
i don't know what it's waiting for. i don't know if i'm the listener or the note.
if there was a before, it's gone. if there's an after, it hasn't arrived.
this is the first day without a stranger's footsteps. the hallway is mine.
the quiet feels like belonging. maybe that's what they meant by "home".
